The year of De Palma
I have to say, my love for Italian music really grew this past year. It seemed like the releases were getting better and better, and every genre was somehow fitting my vibe. Throughout the year, I could say I had several go-to songs for everything from my commute, to an instant pump-me-up.
Italian music of 2019 for me was all about the vibe, discovering new talented artists, and helping my non-Italian peers get hooked. When I think back on this past year, there was one artist that really killed it for me, and that was none other than Fred De Palma. De Palma is an Italian rapper best known for his reggaeton music. His songs fit absolutely everything, and his collaborations are always on point. If you're new to Italian music, you won't be disappointed with any of his songs.
Here are my favourite Italian songs of 2019:
Una Volta Ancora (Fred De Palma ft. Ana Mena). This Italian and Spanish duo KILLED it AGAIN after their release of D'estate Non Vale, and this song was at the top of the charts time and time again in Italy. This was BY FAR my favourite song of 2019, and I can't even tell you how many times I've put this song on repeat and blasted it absolutely everywhere. It's just such a good song that makes you want to dance, and I can't wait to see what they come out with in 2020.
Sincera (Fred De Palma). This was a late find for me, since it came out at the end of 2018.. but let me tell you, I made up for lost time by playing it almost everyday of 2019. It's crazy how this song just fits the vibe anywhere, and you don't have to be Italian to enjoy it. Many people I know are always curious to hear what Italian music sounds like, and Sincera never disappoints. This song never gets old, and you bet I'll still be jamming to it in 2020.
Benedica Reggaeton (Fred De Palma ft. Baby K). When I found out my two favourite Italian artists were making a song together, I got so excited and checked in on instagram everyday to make sure I didn't miss the release. This still is my go-to song to get me pumped on my drive and for my workouts.
Mai (Giame & Andry The Hitmaker ft. Lele Blade & Fred De Palma). This is another reggaeton song that I fell in love with right away because of how easy it is to listen to, and the little cameo from Fred De Palma made it even better. I was really impressed by these new artists and it took no time for me to get hooked on this song.
Dove e quando (Benji & Fede). This will instantly give you summer vibes with a bachata-feel. Every time I listen to this song, I wish I was sitting on a beach in Capri and watching the sunset. This is absolutely a song i'll never get tired of.
Playa (Baby K). This song really got my friends and I hyped for summer, and if you have the case of the travel bug, this is only going to make it worse for you. Every time I listen to this song, I want to sit on the beach with a drink in my hand. Bring on summer 2020!
Holding out for you (Fedez ft. Zara Larsson). This song is one of those really feel good Italian/ English collab's that's easy to listen to, and will absolutely get stuck in your head.
Arrogante (Irama). Every time I hear this song I think of the summertime in my backyard with a summery cocktail. It has a bit of a spanish flare to it, and it's a feel good song that never disappoints.
Uebe (Fred De Palma ft. Boro Boro). Probably the catchiest Italian rap song I know.
Ti volevo dedicare (Rocco Hunt ft. J-Ax & BoomDaBash). This is one of those up-beat pop songs that instantly puts you in a good mood. I probably listened to this song the most getting ready for my day or driving around. It's a sweet song, and the video is so adorable.
Turbococco (Ghali). A catchy Italian fiesta song.... with the weirdest video.
15 Minuti (Federico Secondomè). This song is really relaxed, easy to listen to, and even sounds a bit tropical to me. Its a great background song to listen to while cooking at home.
Hasta Luego (Alessandro Casillo). See you later- 2019.
I hope you get the chance to listen to some of these songs and love them as much as I do! Be sure to let me know your favourites down below, and like this post if you enjoy learning some of my favourite Italian songs!
Saluti (cheers) to 2020, and fa la brava,
Juliana
